What is the purpose of this permit?
To authorize the one time movement of a building a distance of less than 5 miles.

Where can I get the application for this permit?
The application is called 'DOT Form 720-028' is online and can be accessed at https://wsdot.wa.gov/travel/commercial-vehicles/commercial-vehicle-permits.
Do I need to include anything with my application?
Yes - Application must include the following items:
  1. Applications at least ten (10) days in advance of movement date, as outlined above;
  2. Traffic Control Plan, which includes proposed route, lane restrictions, impact to traffic, movement of overhead obstacles, and provisions for emergency vehicles to navigate around load.
  3. Copy of certification of inspection from the Washington State Patrol on hauling equipment.
  4. If private escort vehicles and flag persons are being used, provide documentation that the involved individuals have been certified by the Dept. of Labor & Industries.
  5. If railroad tracks are to be crossed, provide a copy of the railroad's schedule as supplied by the appropriate railroad company.
  6. Proof of insurance (see application for details).
Is the decision on my permit dependent on anything besides the information in my application?
Decision will be based on application, additional information required (see above) and the bridge and pavement analysis completed.
How long will it take to review my application?
The estimated processing time of an application is 10 days. If the building exceeds 200,000 lbs, an application must be submitted 30 days prior to the move.

How long is my permit valid?
Permits are valid for a single trip, up to three (3) consecutive days from the date of purchase

The permit may be further negotiated based on the analysis of the bridges and pavement. Further negotiations can include escort requirements, hours of movement, route, etc.
