Solid Waste (Handling) Permit

What is the purpose of this permit?
Operation of a solid waste facility (landfills, transfer station, some compost operations and recycling facilities, etc.) requires a Solid Waste Permit. These permits are issued by local health departments, and are conditioned to ensure that these facilities meet state and local laws governing solid waste. Because requirements will vary by jurisdiction, the local health department should be contacted for more information. Contacts for local health departments can be found at Ecology's site: https://doh.wa.gov/about-us/washingtons-public-health-system/washington-state-local-health-jurisdictions.
